ABOUT ME AND MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
Highly individualised, collaborative and caring

Dr. Owen Richardson (BA (Hons), GDip, DPsych)
Counselling Psychologist
I'm deeply passionate about helping people learn the skills necessary to overcome any challenges they are facing, whilst also creating a space which feels safe, supportive and open. I strongly believe that the relationship between the client(s) and therapist is paramount to any successful treatment. Therefore, I seek to take a collaborative and supportive role, believing that each one of us is the only true expert of ourselves.
I’m a qualified Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults who have faced a wide range of issues, often complex and multifaceted. In addition to my private practice I extensive knowledge of working within both Specialist and Secondary NHS mental health services.
As a Counselling Psychologist, I draw from a wide variety of evidence based psychological models, all recommended by the NICE guidelines. These treatment models include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), Trauma focused CBT (TCBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) & Systemic/family therapy. All treatment is specifically tailored to the needs of the person(s) I am working with, and will often incorporate aspects of a variety of different psychological models.
Life can be overwhelming, difficult and sometimes even exhausting, but I’m here to help guide you through any obstacles you may be facing. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply, grow your emotional resilience, and ultimately just let you become your best you.
